Cover Girl

As I've shared with you all, I am a huge fan of old movies. I recently watched a film from 1944 called Cover Girl. It stars the drop dead gorgeous Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly. It's considered to be a romance, comedy, and musical. Rita plays a woman by the name of Rusty Parker. She is a dancer at a small, local club in Brooklyn. Danny owns and runs the place and is in love with Rusty. One day Maxine, one of her fellow dancers, says that she has heard about a contest that she's interested in entering. The prize? To be the next Cover Girl! The winner's face will grace the cover of Vanity magazine! Rusty decides that she will give it a shot as well. Maxine, who informed her of the contest, becomes nervous that Rusty will win it and decides to sabotage her. She goes first, comes out from the audition, and tells Rusty everything that they are (not) looking for. So, Rusty takes her deceitful advice and ends up making a fool of herself. The magazine publisher decides to go to the club to see Maxine, as his assistant who was doing the interviews recommended her. However, Rusty ends up catching his eye. He immediately wants her for the cover. She reminds him of on old flame. Rusty's boyfriend Danny and friend Genius are all very close and they become fearful that this new opportunity will take a toll on their friendship. Rusty becomes an overnight sensation and gains much attention and fame. During this time, she is introduced to a man by the name of Noel Wheaton who owns a Broadway theater. He has a romantic interest in Rusty and begins to pursue her and offer her even more opportunity in her career. She is now torn whether to continue to perform at Danny McGuire's or move on to the big time. You guys will have to see what happens! I greatly enjoyed this movie. I absolutely love the vintage glamour! The dresses in the film are stunning! The dancing is also incredible and lovely to watch. This film shows the charm and innocence of the time. There were  many moments that made me laugh out loud! I hope you guys choose this one for your next movie night! You're gonna love it!
